10 Trivias in Dubai
1. There are sand storms in Dubai! Amazing, just like Arrakis/Dune. Visibility is so bad you cant see too far ahead while driving~

2. It is currently the "rainy" season of Dubai. It rains like once every week for 1 hour. Amazing, what will they say about Spore in Dec?
3. Smoking is allowed in air cons mall. The designated smoking area in a restaurant is usually just a table away from the non-smoking section. Why bother to segregate in the first place?
4. Traffic jams along the Dubai sole expressway is comparable and in my opinion, even worse then that of Bangkok. Getting stuck in jams for 1-1.5 hours are normal.

5. There are more Indians and Pakistani then Arabs in Dubai. Filipinos also have a significant presence here. Chinese are a rarity. Singaporeans? I only saw 3 in 3 weeks here.
6. Dubai has the same "must-win" mentality that Singaporean leaders have. They now have the tallest building in the world, most posh hotel in the world, and biggest shopping malls. One of their biggest mall, "Mall of the Emirates" has a snow skiing slope, right in the middle of desert region. Amazing achievement.

7. The beaches of Dubai has clean sand with clear blue water. Spore will never be able to match the natural beaches other countries has to offer.
8. Cars are left-hand drive. Highway exits are on the right. Single lane roads will see you travelling on the right as well. Just all totally different from Spore. I am so not used to it. Yeah, I drove in Dubai. A first! Driving in a foreign city.
9. Dubai is not a country but a state in UAE (United Arab Emirates). I think another 5 or 6 more states make up the rest of UAE.

10. Dubai is extremely expensive. Hotel rates are average 200-300 plus Sing dollar per day. Transport vie cab is usually another 50-60 Sing Dollar. But well, if you are going for a holiday, then costs shouldnt be the most important factor, having fun is upmost importance!
